Alan is a retired oral surgeon who travelled to Guatemala nine times with DFA. He volunteered his services in several locations in and around Guatemala City, Pastores, Comitancillo, El Remate, and Casa Guatemala near Rio Dulce. He signed up for his first trip out of curiosity; a friend had gone the previous year and raved about the experience.

Each group I volunteered with was unique and great to work with, as were the local people who helped us get the job done.
